This summer, you’re invited to join the adventure of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, a spectacular sculpture trail brought to Birmingham by Central BID.
From 3rd July to 6th September 2024, the city transforms into a bear-themed wonderland with ten beautifully designed bears waiting to be discovered—and one of these delightful creations is proudly hosted at Piccadilly Arcade.
Meet Jester: A thought-provoking masterpiece by Amanda Quellin
Step into our historic arcade and meet Jester, a bear with a story to tell. Designed by the talented Amanda Quellin, Jester symbolises the historic exploitation of bears for entertainment.
Dressed in a jester’s costume, this sculpture invites viewers to reflect on the importance of respecting these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.
Explore the bear trail
Embark on an unforgettable journey through Birmingham city centre to find all ten bears, each located at iconic spots including:
- Great Western Arcade
- Bullring
- The Mailbox
- Corporation Street
- New Street
- Grand Central
- Station Street Steps
Download your colourful trail map to guide your adventure and make it a day of discovery. Each bear features a QR code, offering an easy way to donate to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity while enjoying the trail.
A tale to treasure
To accompany the trail, Central BID has partnered with Walker Books to celebrate the beloved children’s story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. This summer’s trail celebrates creativity, community, and the power of storytelling, making it a perfect outing for families.
